Brave City Hang-on for all 3 Points against Hillington

Inter City bounced back from an opening day 4-0 drubbing by glenthorn with a hugely entertaining 4-3 over Hillington at hillington park. The hosts edged the opening exchanges forcing a smart save from city goalkeeper Barry O shea. after twenty minutes a fiercely stuck drive from city right back Aidan O Brien was saved brilliantly onto the angle of post and bar by the hillington goalkeeper, the ball fell to eoin sheehy just inside the box and he made no mistake with a sweet half volley to the roof of the net.1 nil city. Hillington battled back and were level within minutes when a combination of some enterprising passing and defensive indecision ended in the ball being swept to the net by a hillington player. after half time inter city began to take control and took the lead when ace marksman eoin sheehy got on the end of a gordon lynch flick on to run the ball from thirty yards and finish cooly to the net.Soon after that a defence splitting ball from tony lenihan set sheehy up again and from almost an identical position to his second he secured his hat rick with another sublime finish. City were now well on top and went 4-1 to the good when gordon lynch rose to head in a fantastic inswinger from dimunitive winger diurmuid o Leary. At 4-1 city were cruising but credit to hillington they battled back well and the game was back on when hillington took advantage of more defensive indecision to tap home from the six yard box to cut the deficit to 4-2. two minutes later it was panic stations for inter city as it was 4-3. a hillington player rose well to outjump goalkeeper and defender and head into an empty net. A tempestuous and frantic twenty minutes followed. City manager Ger maccarty was forced into 3 subs as injuries took their toll. Hillington were now pushing hard forcing city into desperate defending.their pressure began to tell and culminated in the awarding of what seemed a harsh penalty. few could argue that their pressure didn't merit it. What followed was a fantastic save from city keeper Barry "bruiser" o shea down low to his left. the whistle blew and the city bench were roared with joy and relief .City manager Ger maccarty said" we are delighted to get the 3 points against a good team like hillington, i was pleased with the response from a poor performance last sunday and the attitude of our subs when called in to do their job.the whole squad deserves a pat on the back. Eoin sheehy was electric up front and if we can keep him fit and get him the supply we will always have a chance"

GREX IS A GIMP!

Sorry City not "Worth" The 3 Points

Glanworth 2 ICC 0

Sorry City were well beaten after costly mistakes at both ends denied them the chance to go level at the top of aul 1a
After an evenly fought 1st half icc were unfortunate to find themselves 1-0 down at the break after an unforced error at the back.
indeed they could have been 2-0 down had it not been for the alertness of goalkeeper buizer o shea to come racing off his line with a vital tackle on a Glanworth Player with the goal at his mercy. Icc ravaged by injury with more than 10 potential first team players missing battled hard but only created a few half chances the best falling to cairan speight early on. The 2nd half was a much more open contest with city reverting back to 4-4-2 formation. In fact it might have been a different result had gordon lynch finished a relativly easy oppurtunity on the 50th minute Clearly super ally's mind was on supermacs not goals. As Inter pushed on they left holes at the back and Glanworth were unluckly denied a 2nd with a dubious off side decision by the Referee. Inter Knew it was not going to be their day when chances for the undisputable Sheehy and the impressive Speight went a begging. The game was decided in the 78th minute when a moment of madness from centre back Sean Topper Horgan Handled the ball inside the penalty area to give Glanworth a 2 goal lead. horgan had a good game up to this point but is a big fan of Cork and Red mist

City day of misery was confounded when injuries struck the imovable coaimh Fitzflintoff making his full away debut. Things got so bad that Manager Ger McCarthy had to take his hamstrings in off the line and join in on the action. Another Defeat is this the shape of things to come ?

well it will b if lynch milner and linehan keep stopping in supermacs after the Games
